Alessandro Tofanelli was born in Viareggio (Italy) in 1959.

After graduating from the Augusto Passaglia Art Institute in Lucca, he attended the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. In 1973, he obtained a scholarship from the Banca Mercantile Bank for the International University of Art in Florence. His paintings are part of important private and public, national and international collections, and he is recognized as one of the greatest representatives of the new metaphysical landscape.

Alessandro Tofanelli has always combined his passion for painting with his profession as a professional photographer, documentarian and director. In 2012 he completed his second feature film, “Il segreto degli alberi” (“The Secret of the Trees”) and won the Monicelli Prize from Viareggio Europacinema.

Alessandro Tofanelli is a painter recognized in his country, Italy, requested by numerous galleries in the United States, Spain, Hong Kong... And what's more, he is not what we call a "painter prolific.”

The light and the color, his offbeat, often humorous side, these stories that he tells us in his paintings and his prodigious technique... All of this enchants!

When we look at his works, we recognize the places, but we feel a sensation of strangeness, a slight dizziness that affects our deepest emotional and mental mechanisms. His paintings are nothing but dreams, joy and poetry!
