Séverine Plat-Monin born on April 18th 1978 and grew up in Burgundy (Côte d’Or).
She has passionately worked with clay since her childhood. She began her studies at l'Ecole des Beaux-arts (Dijon) and pursued her studies with undergraduate work. She continued her formation with various sculptors.
For Séverine, clay is the material that best captures the human gesture in all its certainties and hesitations. Clay translates all human emotions. The transition to bronze glorifies and immortalizes the work without betraying its origins. The patina magnifies the human touch. Beyond the figurative, the artist seeks to harmonize both negative and positive spaces and the textures created by the clay allow her to express a poetry that goes beyond reality. The bird theme allows her to develop the poetic universe of flight, to observe poses that often defy gravity and to allow us to travel between heaven and earth.
